Captain America Re-paint by CrowMaiden Captain America Re-paint by CrowMaiden
When I went to see the Avengers with my sister a while back, we paid extra and got the giant cups with the little figures on top. She got Thor, I got Captain.

Anyway, the sculpting on them was really nice, considering they're like 3 inches tall. But I didn't like the paint job.

So I spent the evening after the movie adding detail, fixing lines and making my Captain figure look like he went though hell.

And this is the result! I touched up my sister's Thor too, but I forgot to take before/after pictures.

I agree with the detail of everything except the shield. As far as I can recall, the disc shield was made from a nearly indestructible alloy, vibranium or some such, hence the dents and scratches don't fit well with the character. Otherwise, excellent job. :)

Vinranium and Adamantium alloy actually. And it has been broken/chipped before in the comics, but I was mostly basing this off the movies where the pattern is specifically painted on, and therefore can suffer chips and dents, even if the metal does not.

But thanks!

Yeah, I was going more toward the denting and the visible metal scratches (at least they appear to be) than anything to do with paint. If it had been the original shield, I would be more inclined to the agree. Been a long time since I've read any, so excuse my laughable memory. To be clear, I wasn't attacking your work, as you seem to have taken it.

I didn't take it as an attack actually, I was just trying to explain why I painted it like I did. As I said, it's based more on the movies, where the stars and stripes were painted on, so the visible metal scratches are just scratches peeling off the paint so you can see the metal underneath.

The paint on Captain's shield isn't indestructible so its possible for the paint to peel off or something. Though I agree that dents are completely out of the question.
