I saw Rise of the Guardians at the beginning of the month. And adored it, especially Bunny. So I wanted a plushie of his mini form. But I've been short on time, so I was thinking about commissioning someone for him. Buuut...Everyone either wasn't using materials I liked, or they were way out of my price range. So I made my own afterall!
The fabric store had a scrap that was a couple feet square, of the most beautiful soft gray faux-fur on the day I went. It was meant to be.
The designs in his fur were trimmed in, because the faux-fur had a lighter top pile than the bottom. So I brushed the fur straight up and then cut away the patterns. White polar fleece was also used along with pink, green and white felt. I used needle sculpting to indent his eyes.
I had a hell of a time with the sewing, the faux fur kept sliding. The most noticeable part is in his cheeks where the white fabric is higher on one side. And I didn't remember to put seam allowances right into the pattern I made so that ended up being a nightmare too.
He's a little over 13 inches tall, and he's very huggable. I love him and his big grumpy eyebrows, flaws and all.
He took about 3 days to finish, and I'm glad I made the time for him.
